- Slightly sand the surface with 400 grit sandpaper or abrasive cloth. In this way, you will create micro-grooves that will promote the adhesion of the coating
- Remove the dust with a damp cloth
- Clean the surface carefully with acetone to remove dust and grease, that could avoid the adhesion of the coating
- Apply two or three coats of product
To obtain a smooth to the surface, you can dilute with water up to a maximum of 20%. Use a graduated container to check the dilution. Here is an example of dilution: 20 ml of water per 100 ml of coating correspond to a dilution of 20%. Obviously, the more you dilute the more coats you have to apply. Keep in mind that it is better to apply more smooth and even coats, as they dry perfectly and do not create problems to the final aesthetic result. If you are looking for a textured effect, you can apply the product with no dilution.
Vintage Prestige coatings do not need a primer nor topcoat, because they boast high adhesion and resistance. But, in case of items, subjected to ultra-stress, such as tables, chairs, doors, wardrobes, kitchen tops, RO3000 Decorative Oil can be applied. It is a completely matt low-thickness topcoat, and invisible after drying. It does not change the matt look of Vintage Prestige, on the contrary it increases its resistance to scratches and dirt and makes it water-repellent.
The application tools we recommend are:
- foam/sponge roller, moistened before application (in this way, the coating will spread better and the roller will “waste” less color)
- brush with 6.5 cm long synthetic bristles, dipped in water and then wrung out before the application of the color
Obviously, the roller covers more surface in less time. Mix the product well before using it: in this way the pigments that are settled on the bottom will be mixed homogeneously throughout the coating.
Vintage Prestige is the high-resistance ultra-matt coating with high hiding power, designed for wood, metal, glass, wall, plastic, fabric and vertical tiles, exposed both indoors and outdoors.
Here are some precautions to be taken in the case of:
Leather, pleather and fabric
Vintage Prestige has great grip also over these materials. Pay close attention to the bends of the material, which is very flexible by nature and can form cracks over time. In this case, it will be sufficient to sand slightly and apply again one coat of product. We always recommend using Vintage Prestige on leather and fabric not submitted to great stress (eg: the seatback of a chair, a footstool where only the feet lay etc.). We do not recommend to use it over very thick fabrics, such as velvets or similar materials. RO3000 Decorative Oil can be applied as a topcoat. In the case of fabric, it is suggested to apply the product well diluted with water, even up to 50-60% (do not dilute with softeners and do not apply waxes) and with the support slightly moistened, to obtain a more regular absorption. Before the very application, it is recommended to carry out a test on a similar fabric and to carefully evaluate the level of effort of the product. Vintage Prestige has given excellent results on pleather and leather, over the seatbacks of chairs over wardrobes, even made of alcantara. In these last three cases, Vintage Prestige can be diluted up to 15% with water.
Fridge. Yes. Slightly sand with 400 grit sandpaper, remove dust and clean with acetone. Now you can apply Vintage Prestige.
Kitchen hood. Yes, but take care to sand thoroughly. Then remove the dust and clean with acetone. Now you can apply Vintage Prestige.
Radiator. Yes. Remove rust by sanding and apply anti-rust primer. Now you can apply Vintage Prestige.
Cast iron stove. No. Vintage Prestige is not heat resistant. The colors could change and the coating could crack and peel off from the surface.
Oven. No. Vintage Prestige is not heat resistant. The colors could change and the coating could crack and peel off from the surface.
Exterior oven door. Yes. Sand slightly with 400 grit sandpaper and clean well with acetone. Keep in mind that the high temperatures of the oven and the steam could cause a color change over time.
Aluminum frames. Yes. If there are old coating layers, they must be in good conditions.

Color wash is a simple and very fast decorative technique, which gives a “stripped” effect. You can use Vintage Prestige coatings and RO3000 Decorative Oil as topcoat. Apply the first coat of color and let it dry off. Then, apply the contrasting color where you want to see the different shades and pull it with a damp cloth.
Floor Prestige is the high-resistance coating for ceramic, stoneware, stone, concrete, terracotta and wood floorings.
Here are some precautions to take in the case of:
Outdoor tiles
Sand well with 220 grit sandpaper for metal, pass through the joints with a metal brush, clean well with acetone and apply Floor Prestige adding 2% of RY0406 Adhesion Promoter.
Bath tub
If your purpose is to use the tub after the coatinging, unfortunately, our enamels are not designed for continuous use in contact with stagnant water. The situation is different for a shower, in which the water flows. In this last case, the coating must be applied, adding 2% of RY0406 Adhesion Promoter.
Marble
Sand well with 220 grit sandpaper for metal, clean well with acetone and apply Floor Prestige adding 2% of RY0406 Adhesion Promoter.
We do not know the precise duration, as it depends on the method of application (whether correct or not), the type of detergents used for cleaning, the daily stresses and the preparation of the support. We suggest to apply Floor Prestige , adding 2% of RY0406 Adhesion Promoter (carefully follow the instructions on the label) to increase the adhesion of the coating and to clean with neutral detergents.
- Sand the woodwork up to raw wood.
- Apply two coats of
- Wood stain RMxx10 – CHECK THE SHEET
- or Gel Wood stain RGxx80- CHECK THE SHEET
- Then you can choose between these topcoats
- ultra-matt topcoat RO3000 – CHECK THE SHEET
- matt topcoat RP2260 – CHECK THE SHEET
- semi-glossy topcoat RP1160 – CHECK THE SHEET
The difference you have between the color you applied and the ones on the website depends on differrent factors, such as mixing, possible dilution, the number of coats, the support. Like all color references published on the Internet, unfortunately the aesthetic definition is given by a series of factors, such as the consultation device (smartphone, laptop, tablet etc.) and even the display settings which may vary.
We recommend to clean your objects, treated with the Prestige range only with neutral detergents and to avoid aggressive products such as ammonia, pure alcohol or common-use detergents. Rio Verde range includes the neutral detergent RR1050.
The coating systems studied to restore woodworks are different. The choice is to be made mainly according to the degradation of the object: from simple retouch to complete removal of the old coating layer. Generally, it is always recommended to complete the coating system with Wood stain and topcoat. In the event that RC1x30 waxy wood stain is chosen, the use of RCxx30 waxy topcoat is mandatory.

- Completely remove the old coating layer by means of sanding
- To remove moulds, apply – where necessary – Grey Remover RR5050, following the instructions on the label
- Apply 2 coats of RMxx10 Wood stain, in a color of your choice, following the instructions on the label
- Apply in 2 coats UV Defender topcoat RQxx70, in a color of your choice, following the instructions on the label
For a long-lasting application, a six-month treatment with Brightener T.Top+ RR1250 is recommended, following the instructions on the label, after removal of dust. It is a silicone-based product, very easy to apply, able to close the micro-cracks of the coating, caused by ultraviolet rays. It keeps the coating elastic and resistant and increases its water-repellent features, forming a patina that prevents water from penetrating inside the coating film.
